Basic information on commencing a trade at an establishment

Required particulars of submissions

In the notification of commencement of a trade, the entrepreneur will specify:

  • The company name, business name, or given name and surname
  • The identification number of the person
  • The address of the establishment or its place, as appropriate
  • The trade – the objects of business carried on at the establishment, in the case of an unqualified trade the field of activity
  • The date of commencement of the trade at the establishment and, if known, the date of termination of the trade at the establishment
Administrative fees

There is no administrative fee for the notification of the commencement of a trade at an establishment.

Time limits

For entrepreneurs, the Trade Licensing Act sets the time limit as follows: submissions in respect of the commencement of a trade at an establishment are made in advance, i.e. before the trade is actually commenced at the establishment.


The trade licensing office will process submissions without delay and, if the submission is free of defects, it will make an entry in the trade licensing register within the general statutory time limit of 5 working days.
