Help for the Public website of Trade Licensing Register (TLR)

TLR Public website is intended for displaying public information about business subjects in the Czech Republic and is operated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Information on the public TLR website is divided into two basic sections:

• search for a specific business subject and display of its public information,
• display of annual statistical information about trade authorizations within the scope of the Czech Republic.

The option of searching for a business subject on the basis of the data of an individual, who has a relationship with the business entity, was added to the Public website on 01.01.2009. The Public website also has links to searching for information in the Commercial Register and information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade concerning Commercial activities. The website also includes the help section, which you are now reading.

Search form, rules for searching

The search form serves for definition of search criteria. Business entities can be searched for on the basis of their registered identification number or on the basis of the business entity's name (or only the beginning of the name) or the address of its registered office or site of business. It is also possible to search for a business entity on the basis of an individual who has some sort of relationship with this business entity on the basis of his role within the business entity. An individual can be searched for on the basis of surname, potentially with specification of the name, role or the address of the specific individual's place of residence or domicile. The actual search is carried out by entering the required criteria and clicking on the "Search" button. If you have entered the correct search criteria the search for the subject or individual corresponding to the required criteria is carried out; or the details of the specific business entity or the individual, with a list of business entities with which the searched for individual has some sort of relationship, are displayed. In the event that the search criteria are insufficiently or incorrectly defined you will be notified by an error message.

General rules for searching:

• small and capital letters are not differentiated,
• diacritics are ignored,
• the minimum length of a search criterion is two characters,
• special characters (* % ? _) and space must not be entered in first place or in words,
• the order of the words entered in one search field is not important.

You can delete the entered search criteria by clicking on the "Searching for subjects" link in the menu or clicking on the "Empty form" button mentioned in the tips in the section on the right.

Description of individual fields in the form and rules for entering search criteria

Searching on the basis of a subject

RN

The RN is the Registered Identification Number of the business subject, which was allocated to it by the Czech Statistical Office, the Commercial Register, or the Trade Licensing Office. The RN should be unique, an RN allocated to one business subject in the Czech Republic should not be allocated to any other subject. The RN is a unique identifier and, as such, is the most suitable search criterion. If you enter the RN as a search criterion the remaining search criteria will be ignored and the subject will be searched for only on the basis of the RN. In the ideal case the search will find only one subject. However business entities for which the RN is not known also exist in the database. This is always a temporary situation (the RN will be added when the relevant Trade Licensing Office becomes aware of its value), however, you will not be able to find the required subject on the basis of this criteria in such cases. If you fail to find the business entity on the basis of its RN, use another criteria for finding it - the business entity's name or address.

• Only digits are permitted.
• The field is exactly 8 digits long.

Business entity

Business entity or business entity's name simply means the name under which the business entity appears and under which it is registered in the Trade Licensing Register. Depending on the type of subject this may be the trading company (subjects entered in the Commercial Register), name of a legal person (legal persons not entered in the Commercial Register) or name and surname of a natural persons including potential annex (natural persons not entered in the Commercial Register). The search on the basis of the subject's name takes place in the following manner:

• The search is carried out on the basis of individual words, not dependent on order. This means that the search looks for subjects the names of which contain all the entered words, not depending on the order these were entered. Consequently, the "First Second" and "Second First" criteria are identical.
• Spaces and dots are ignored as a result of "interspersed" names (Ř E M P O, ŘEMPO, Ř.E.M.P.O.).
• In the event that the begins with... parameter is not ticked, the search only takes whole words into account, not the beginning or individual sections. If you wish to search for a "First Second" business entity you must enter the name of the business entity using one of the above mentioned options. Criteria such as "Fir Sec" are insufficient, a search will not be initiated for the subject. If you enter only "First" or "Second" you will obtain too many subjects, because criteria entered in this manner are not specific enough.
  If the begins with... parameter is ticked, a "*" is automatically entered behind the   l a s t   entered word and the search looks for names containing the word beginning with the entered text.

The minimum length of the field is two characters, the maximum length is 255 characters.

Address

The address is a search criterion made up of the following sections: District, Municipality, Municipal district, Street, Street number and character, House Number. It is essential that the "Municipality" field be completed for carrying out searches for a subject on the basis of its address. If you do not enter the municipality, you will be notified of incorrectly entered search criteria by an error message. The result of a search on the basis of the address is a list of subjects, who have the a registered office (legal persons), site of business (natural persons), business premises or organisational unit at the entered address.

District

• You may only select this from the list of districts.

Municipality

The municipality is an essential search criterion for searches carried out on the basis of an address. If any criterion related to the address is entered, this field must be completed.

• It is possible to enter only the beginning of words from the name of the municipality. If multiple municipalities correspond to the criterion entered in this manner, you will be asked to select the specific name of a municipality from a list.
• The minimum length of the field is 2 characters, the maximum length is 48 characters.

Municipal district

• It is possible to enter only the beginning of words from the name of the municipal district.
• The minimum length of the field is 2 characters, the maximum length is 48 characters.

Street

• It is possible to enter only the beginning of the name of the street.
• The minimum length of the field is 2 characters, the maximum length is 48 characters.

Street number, street number character

• Only digits are permitted for numbers, a maximum of one character for characters.
• The minimum length of the number field is 1 digit, the maximum length is 5 digits.

House number (indication or registration)

• Only digits are permitted.
• The minimum length of the field is 1 digit, the maximum length is 10 digits.

Street and house numbers are compared crosswise in the inquiry, because these two pieces of information are very frequently interchanged.

Search on the basis of an individual

Enables a search for a business subject on the basis of the data of an individual, who has some sort of relationship with this business entity on the basis of his role within the business entity. The result of the search is a list of individuals, who comply with the entered criteria. By clicking on the name and surname of an individual in the list you can display a list of business entities, with which the specific individual has a relationship.

Name

Individual's name.

• The minimum length of this field is 2 characters, the maximum length is 24 characters.
• The search is carried out on the basis of whole words.
• In the case of multi-word names, the search is carried out on the basis of individual words, not depending on order.

Surname

The individual's surname, an obligatory piece of data. The search cannot be carried out without entering the surname.

• The minimum length of this field is 2 characters, the maximum length is 35 characters.
• The search is carried out on the basis of whole words.
• In the case of multi-word names, the search is carried out on the basis of individual words, not depending on order.

Individual's role

If the list of subjects found on the basis of the individual must be limited by the specific type of role that the specific individual has in relation to the subject, the required role can be specified in this field. Subjects within which this individual appears in relation to the selected type of role will be displayed for the found individuals.

The individual's role can be entered by selecting from the list (listbox). The following types of role are available:

• statutory body,
• entrepreneur,
• head of the organisational unit,
• responsible representative.

Address (District, Municipality, Municipal district, Street, Street number and character, House number)

The result of a search carried out on the basis of an address is a list of individuals, who reside or have a domicile at the entered address.

The same rules as for searching for subjects on the basis of an address apply to completion of the individual address fields for individuals.

Description of differences in found data on subjects between the original and foreign language versions

Object of business

The object of business in trades is always given fully in the foreign language version, as it is given in the Annex to Act no. 455/1991 Coll., on licensed trade (the Trade Licensing Act), as amended. In the event that the business entity's scope of activities falling under the specific object of business is limited within the terms of the specific authorization, the actual scope of activities, for which the business entity has a valid trade authorization can only be established in the original language version.

Scope of the object of business

The scope of the object of business activities is an entry, which was entered in the Trade Licensing Register on the basis of the previously valid wording of the Trade Licensing Act. This data is currently not entered in the Trade Licensing Register and is consequently not displayed in the foreign language version at all.

Fields of activity for unqualified notifiable trades

Individual fields of unqualified notifiable trades, realisation of which the business entity announced to the Trade Licensing Office, are not given in the foreign language version. Specific fields of activity carried out within the scope of the trade authorization for an unqualified notifiable trade can only be established in the original language version of the Trade Licensing Register.

Suspension of a trade

If the extent of the suspension of a trade is specified in detail in the Trade Licensing Register, a warning that the specific scope of the suspension of a trade is only available in the original language version of the Trade Licensing Register, will appear in the foreign language version.

Impediments to carrying out a trade - prohibition of activities in the field or a related field with regard to unqualified notifiable trades

If a impediment to carrying out trade, consisting of a court issued prohibition of activities in the field or related field, is entered in the Trade Licensing Register for one or more unqualified notifiable trades, a warning appears in the foreign language version pointing out this fact and stating that more detailed specification of these fields is only available in the original language version of the Trade Licensing Register.

Name of business premises, location of business premises

The content of these fields is not translated in the foreign language version and is listed in the Czech language.

Fields of unqualified notifiable business activities carried out at the business premises

Only the list of business premises at which the business entity has notified realisation of business activities in one of the fields of unqualified notifiable trades, is listed by unqualified notifiable trades, during which time the fields of activities are not listed by the business premises. Specific fields of activities in unqualified notifiable trades carried out at the business premises can only be established in the original language version of the Trade Licensing Register.
